CHARACTERISTICS:
The root oil is colourless, or pale yellow, which turns yellowy-brown with age. It has an earthy, peppery, musky smell. Blends well with clary sage, patchouli, neroli, rose, rosewood and violet.

An annual herb that grows up 60cm tall, with hairless and branching stems. It has delicate feathery leaves and small, daisy-like flowers. Grows wild in Eastern Europe and West Asia. Related species are found in North America and Africa.

The Champaka is an evergreen timber tree native to India, a family of magnolia, with fragrant, orange-yellow flowers from which this highly priced oil is obtained. The flowers are regarded as sacred by the Hindi.
